Christmas Shopping Is about to Begin! Auction Preview

We have some amazing donations lined up for our auction!  We have girls’ clothes, home and Christmas decor, gift baskets, and homemade meals and desserts!  We have a lot of great things, but we still need more donations!  We will be receiving donations throughout this week; so if you have something you’d like to offer, let us know!

This is a Facebook auction.  Here is a link to the auction page: https://www.facebook.com/lynchesloveadoption.  The auction doesn’t start until next week, but you can preview the event page now.  Just remember a lot more items will be added throughout the week!  Please “Like” and “Follow” to get all of the updates, pre-auction previews, and to participate or share our auction page!

The auction will start Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 8 a.m. and will end on Thursday, Dec. 3 @ 8 p.m. A picture of each item up for bid will placed in a photo album on the event page with all important info, as well as a starting bid amount. Bids will be placed in the comments section, and all bids must increase by a minimum of $1. I’ll use the “Facebook time” on each comment to determine when the winning bid was given. The winner will have 24 hours to respond or the next highest bidder will be awarded.

We’ll either arrange for pick-up or mail the item to the winning bidder!

If you would like to donate or would like more information on donating, then just send us a message on Facebook or email us at lynchesloveadoption.hotmail.com.

We Need Donations for Our Auction!

We are currently selling Christian car flags for $15 each!  If you want one, please let either Jeremy or Amanda know.

Our next fundraiser is going to be a Facebook Auction.  These are so fun, and they are a great way to score well-priced Christmas gifts!

Here’s how it works….

We are looking for people who…

love to be crafty,

have their own home or online business like Etsy,

run a business,

or would like to purchase an item or gift card and donate it to the auction.

If you would like to participate, we would LOVE a donation from you personally, your business, or any other donation you’d like to create for auction!  If you have a business, we will advertise for you on our website during the auction! To partner with us in our auction, please contact us through this blog, or contact Amanda or Jeremy on Facebook.

Also if you know anyone who would like to donate to the auction, please share this information with them.  And, of course, when we start to advertise the auction in another week or so…share, share, SHARE on Facebook.  We would love to get a lot of people involved!  Remember, this could be a great way to get a head start on your Christmas shopping.

National Adoption Month, Christian Flags, and an Online Auction

The Lord is steadily providing what we need financially for our adoption!  In the last two weeks, we received two different $500 checks in the mail.  Both were a complete surprise!  The Lord keeps reminding me that He owns everything and provides for our needs in His good time.

We are so blessed to see God at work in our adoption and in other adopting families!  Some of our friends from seminary were just connected with a birthmother and will be adopting a newborn in December!  Misti and Jacob, who I told you about earlier this week, are still in Colombia.  They are fighting illness and are homesick for three of their children, while they wait to bring their fourth child home.

November is National Adoption Month!  God is doing a great work in the lives of the fatherless all over the world.  Please join me in praying for those children who do not have a parent’s love and protection.  Pray for Christians throughout the world to answer God’s call to get involved in orphan care!

We are starting two new fundraisers just in time for Christmas!

Christian Flag Fundraiser

We are selling Christian car flags which mount on your car window. The cost is only $15!  The flags must be pre-ordered, so let us know if you want to purchase.

Online Auction

In a couple of weeks we will be starting an online auction!  We have a lot of our own items to auction off, but we   need more auction items to be donated.  Anything large or small can be auctioned.

If an item is large, we will post the town in which it is found (i.e., this bookcase is in the Atlanta area).  That way people in California will know not to bid on that item.  If an item is small, we can easily have it shipped.  If you have a small item to donate but don’t live near us, we can post the picture of your item online; and have you ship it directly from your town.  Don’t worry; we will pay for shipping!

Maybe you don’t have any possessions to auction off, but you could offer a service.  Here are some ideas of services which could be donated:  babysitting, house cleaning, laundry, cooking, changing oil, photography sessions, hair cuts, manicures, or yard work.  In truth just about anything could be auctioned off.  We will list the town in which the service is available.

If you have an item or service to donate, please let us know!  Thanks for all of your help and prayers!

Financial Disclosure

I want to thank all of you who supported our spaghetti dinner fundraiser.  We had a great time and raised $750!  And thank you again to Gail who did and gave so much to make the fundraiser happen.  You rock!

A few weeks ago I promised that I would blog about the specific financial needs we have for this adoption.  We want to be above reproach in all things, including this area; and a big part of that means being transparent about the fundraising money.  We want you to know exactly where the fundraising money is going, and we would be happy to answer questions about the financial side of our adoption at any time.

The average domestic adoption in the U.S. costs around $20,000.  We even spoke with one agency whose fees started at $44,000!  We quickly decided not to use that agency!  Our adoption is through Private Adoption Services, Inc., and their fees are less than most.  Because there are a lot of different fees for our adoption, I want to break it down for you.

Lynch Adoption Fees

$   700         Homestudy

$ 1,000       Application Fee

$ 7,000       Placement Fee

$ 5,000       Legal Fees and Birthmother Support

$   600        Post-Placement Visits from a Social Worker

$ 1,000       Travel  (At least 2 trips to Cincinnati and Hotel Stay)

$15,300      Total Adoption Expenses

Currently we have only paid the $700 for our homestudy.  This means that we will still have to pay $14,600.

The application fee is not due until we are matched with a birthmother.  The placement fee is paid when the child is placed in our home.  Laws vary state-to-state; but in Ohio where our agency is based, we can pay up to $3,000 in support of our child’s birthmother if she needs it.  This money is primarily used to pay for housing, and/or other bills, and medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.  The adoption agency pays this money directly to the insurance company or landlord to make certain that it is used for the correct purposes.  Legal fees go to the lawyers and judge who will make us the legal parents of our adopted child.

We have an adoption savings account for all of the fundraising money.  We have paid $700 for our homestudy and currently have $2,081 in our adoption account!  Only $12,519 to go!

The fundraising has been slow, but steady; and we are so grateful for the Lord’s provision. He has called us to adopt, so we know that He will provide!  Thank you to all of you who have joined us on this journey!  We are so grateful that so many people are a part of our child’s story!

We are planning an online auction to begin in a few weeks, just in time for Christmas!  And we need some donations.  If you have anything you might like to donate (gifts large or small or even services that you provide), please let us know!

I also want to ask you to pray for our friends, Jacob and Misti, who are currently in Colombia adopting their new son, Silas!  Please uphold them in your prayers, and check out their blog, Butterflies and Ladybugs, for more information.  There is a link on the side of this page or go to http://www.jmalcoleman.blogspot.com.
