Auction Report and Conduits for Christ

We want to thank all of you who got involved in our adoption auction.  Quite a few of you donated amazing items.  Many of you bid and won. Some of you even swooped in at the last minute and grabbed up great items–you know who you are!  🙂  We hope that participating in the auction was fun for you all; we really enjoyed it.

If you haven’t yet received the item you won, please let us know.  We will make sure you get it right away.  If you still need to pay,  you can give us cash or check.  Or you can pay on PayPal to lynchesloveadoption@hotmail.com.

Now for the results!  Thank you so much for your generosity!  Drum roll, please……..

$755 was pledged through the auction!

Setting up the auction took a lot more time and energy than I expected.  I prayed that the Lord would make it worthwhile, that we would at least make $200.  Not surprisingly, He greatly surpassed my request!  We were also amazed by how many people have given us more than they pledged.  We keep saying that every little bit helps when you are trying to reach such a big goal, but this was a huge blessing.  Praise the Lord for providing for our needs!  He has called us to provide a forever home for a child, and He will provide!

Earlier this week Jeremy was asked to write down some thoughts on faith, giving, and tithing.  Some of you may have had the chance to read on Facebook what he wrote, but we also wanted to include it in our blog.  Thank you again for your support and generosity.  May the Lord continue to grow our faith!

CONDUITS FOR CHRIST, How Giving Grows Our Faith! by Jeremy Lynch

When God blesses His children with talents, treasures, and time, His desire is not for us to glorify ourselves with His blessings. And why would we withhold His blessings from others?

The guideline for tithing was first taught in the Old Testament and then reinforced with Jesus teachings in the Gospels. Yet if we look at the Parable of the Talents, we can see Christ instructing us to be investors in the kingdom and not hoarders. It literally takes generosity and an open hand when it comes to God’s blessings. Because when we become an end road and not a conduit of God’s blessings, then God is not glorified. Instead we stifle what God is longing to do through us.

Think about it this way. My wife and I are praying for God to bless us with a child through a domestic adoption. Adoption takes faith, money, and dependence on God. People sometimes comment: “Don’t you have enough children already?” or “Isn’t that going to take a lot of money?” To which we reply: “Hasn’t God called us to minister to the fatherless and the widow?” The answer to that calling comes in different measures, and one way is to adopt. How is God calling you to minister to the fatherless and the widow? This isn’t a checklist of yes or no, but a daily conduit of sharing God’s blessings.

Now on to the heart of the matter, money is frequently the roadblock to adoption. Let’s take this a step further. When God commands us to tithe, we understand that we are to tithe the monies made from our wages. But what about tithing from the gifts, donations, and time? What about tithing the monies given through fundraising for a family’s adoption? It’s really quite an eye opening experience in walking by faith and not by sight to tithe a blessing that you didn’t earn.

Therefore my wife and I have not only continued this walk of faith in adopting, but also in tithing the monies given for our adoption. We are investing the monies above and beyond the 10% tithe. When we become conduits, the Lord can trust us with more because He truly wants us to operate by faith and not by sight.

I challenge you to live out this truth in your own life. Taste and see that the Lord is good! Allow God’s blessing to be multiplied through your willingness to give by faith!
